lyrics
Leukeamia
words & music by Angus Woodhead and Neal Price
You never know what’s deep inside,
When you look into your baby’s eyes.
It’s a fate that takes you by surprise,
Leukeamia, will bring tears to your eyes.
It’s an evil that can steal away,
Your life blood it will drain.
You know that there is just one way,
To ease the pain.
I’ve heard people cry wolf before,
But I knew this time it was for sure.
Now that I’ve seen what it can do,
I’m here to ask something of you.
Won’t you give your heart to the suffering,
Won’t you help to ease their pain.
All it takes is a smile and a helping hand,
You’ve got so much to gain.
Leukeamia is cancer of the white blood cells,
It is the most common form of childhood cancer,
But can effect anyone of any age.
Leukeamia is not a single disease, but manifests in many forms,
And takes from us many precious lives.
I watch him playing and he looks so happy,
But the drugs and the pain, it’s all he’s ever known.
He gets so sick and so weak, but he just keeps on smiling,
You know, he never complains. “Won’t you love them.”
It’s an evil that can steal away,
Your life blood it will drain.
You know that there is just one way,
To ease the pain.
So, won’t you give your heart to the suffering,
Won’t you help ease their pain.
All it takes is a smile and a helping hand,
You’ve got so much to gain.
